Azure Blue Casket Water Dragon

These fierce azure blue casket water dragons have a hidden compartment inside their bodies to keep precious objects safe. They are constructed from large extruded hollow coils of stoneware clay with a overlaid “dragon skin” of textured clay.

My azure blue casket water dragons are glazed primarily with a dry barium glaze which is coloured with cobalt carbonate. This glaze produces a lovely warm earthy toasting effect on the edges and where the glaze is thinner.  Additional details such as gold or silver highlights and the immortal pearl of wisdom in the dragon’s mouth are glazed with metallic lustres.
